LJ

Decided to go through my Friends list on LJ for the first time in years, and though I haven't exactly been very active on here myself anymore, it was still a little bit of a surprise to see how many people gave up posting (on average, around 2010).

It looks like, of the people I know/suspect are active, I know 2 or 3 lurkers who won't post on their own but will read from time to time and comment (and are, incidentally, all guys). Of the people I know are actively posting on a regular basis about their lives, I know 6 people (5 of which are female). Interesting gender breakdown, IMHO.

So yeah, I went a-pruning this morning, and if you think I de-friended you by accident, just let me know.

Meh.

So it's obvious LJ is not enjoying the hey-day it once had. People either outgrew it or moved fairly completely to Twitter and/or Facebook. Nothing wrong with that -- I have a Facebook account myself -- but I'm starting to think it's retarded to keep some Friends who've fairly obviously abandoned LJ and haven't written anything in a year or two. It's just silly.

So if I've de-friended you and you're wondering why, now you know.

...Bueller? ...Bueller?

Can you do me a favor and post a quick comment below if you actually read my journal, no matter how irregularly?

I'm thinking fully half the people on my Friends List post rarely-to-never, which leads me to believe they might not be reading other people's journals either. Doesn't really bother me anymore, but I'd like to get a better feeling of how much of a void I'm actually posting to :)
